Comparison between Webshaker and SDOF Model

About this Experiment:
This experiment compares data from the live Webshaker experiment to the result of the Single Degree of Freedom (SDOF) equation computer program.
The base acceleration recorded from the live Webshaker experiment is used as input motion to the SDOF experiment program.

The default natural frequency in the SDOF program is 4 Hz and its damping ratio is 0.025. After the initial Webshaker experiment, users can adjust the natural frequency and damping ratio supplied to the SDOF program so as to achieve a better match with the Webshaker experiment.

You can view the Fortran code of the SDOF Computer Program.

Instructions:
Please choose one of the following for your comparison experiment:
  1. Sinusoidal Input: to use a sinusoidal wave as input to the shaker
  2. Earthquake-like Records Input: to use earthquake-like base acceleration records as input to the shaker.
